Volunteer Position: Team Leader - Mentoring Program

Population Served:  Kids in TYC Facilities

General summary of volunteer project:
The team leader will serve as a liaison between the volunteer assigned to the mentoring program and the coordinator of volunteer services.

Location: 5415 Maple Ave., #225, Dallas, TX 75235 (Mapsco #31B-M)

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

  1. Provide support and information to volunteers assigned to the mentoring program.
  2. Maintain routine telephone contact with volunteers to assist in solving problems and answering questions, etc.
  3. Maintain required documentation of volunteer participation with Volunteer Services Office.

Volunteer qualifications:

  1. Completion of Texas Youth Commission basic orientation and certification.
  2. Willingness to promote and support the mentoring program and the needs of the facility.
  3. Exhibit maturity and responsible behavior at all times. Observe and encourage appropriate personal limitations.

Training required: (1 ½ - 2 hours)

  1. Basic orientation and certification process to Texas Youth Commission.
  2. In-service training offered on a monthly basis. Classes should be attended as needed.
  3. Volunteer may request additional training at any time in specific areas.
