Volunteer Position: Recreational

General summary of volunteer project:
Assist Recreation Manager in implementing the structured recreation
program by which the students' self-image is positively impacted and
good physical health is achieved.

Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Focus on students' strengths and talents. Teach proper
sportsmanship behavior and attitude.
- Promote good physical health and conditioning.
- Seek to improve the students' self-esteem.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Completion of Texas Youth Commission basic orientation and
certification.
- Willingness to work with at-risk students.
- Exhibit maturity and responsible behavior at all times. Observe and
encourage appropriate personal limitations.
Training required: (1 ½ - 2 hours)
- Basic orientation and certification process to Texas Youth
Commission.
- In-service training offered on a monthly basis. Classes should be
attended as needed.
- Volunteer may request additional training at any time in specific
areas.
