Volunteer Position: Recreational Aide

General summary of volunteer project:
Small groups (6-10 per group) of volunteers interact with residents
by playing basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball or board games at one
of our four institutions.
Time commitment: Hours per week: 2-4, weeknights and weekends Hours
Per Month: 2-4
Length of commitment: 6 months to 1 year

Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Participate in recreational activity with residents.
- Listen to youth, but do not lecture, assist with building
self-esteem.
- Group of volunteers could participate once a week or once a month.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Must pass criminal and reference checks.
- Must be an excellent listener, patient, flexible and reliable.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Must have basic knowledge of filing, typing and computer skills.
Training required:
- 7-hour general training provided by Volunteer Coordinator.
- 1-hour specific training provided by institution program or activity
coordinator.
- Yearly service training.
