Volunteer Position: Parent as Teacher Assistant

Agency: Texas Youth Commission

Population Served:  Kids in TYC Facilities

General summary of volunteer project:
Volunteers will help Parent Educators, record answers from instruments given to youth for research study.

Time Commitment: Hours per week: 5 Hours per month: 20

Length of commitment: One month

Location: 5415 Maple Ave., #225, Dallas, TX 75235 (Mapsco #31B-M)

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

1. Record answers from instruments on an answer sheet.
2. Document scores on a record sheet.

Volunteer qualifications:

1. Completion of Texas Youth Commission basic orientation and certification.
2. Must have high school diploma.
3. Able to record data correctly.

Training required: (1 ½ - 2 hours)

1. Basic orientation and certification process to Texas Youth Commission.
2. In-service training offered on a monthly basis. Classes should be attended as needed.
3. Volunteer may request additional training at any time in specific areas.
