General summary of volunteer project:
To form a trusting relationship in which the student can seek
personal guidance for future decisions, values, morals and goals. The
student's self-image is positively impacted.

Minimum of 6 months
Location:
apply at 2462 E. Long Ave., Ft. Worth, TX 76106. However the volunteer
job is available at Ft. Worth Parole, 2462 E. Long Ave., Ft. Worth, TX
76106 and the local Halfway Houses, Willoughby House by Cherry Lane and
I-30, Ft. Worth and McFadden Ranch in Roanoke, Texas.
Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Consistent weekly visits offering friendship, advice and guidance.
- Share personal struggles and experiences to favorably influence
students' decision-making abilities.
- Provide information on career choices, school goals and family
values.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Completion off Texas Youth Commission basic orientation and
certification.
- Willingness to work individually with an assigned student.
- Exhibit maturity and responsible behavior at all times.
- Observe and encourage appropriate personal limitations.
Training required:
- Basic orientation and certification process to Texas Youth
Commission.
- In-service training offered on a monthly basis. Classes should be
attended as needed.
- Volunteer may request additional training at any time in specific
areas.
