Volunteer Position: Group Treatment Program Volunteer

Agency: Child Protective Services

Population Served: Abused/Neglect in Care

General summary of volunteer project:  The group treatment program provides therapy to families affected by sexual abuse. Small interactive sessions focus on the needs of victims, their parents, siblings and other relatives. Volunteer opportunities fall within a wide range that could be from planning activities and snacks for young children, to becoming a co-leader in a group.

(Tuesdays: any time between 8am - 5pm)

Location: Child Protective Services; 2355 N. Stemmons Frwy., Dallas TX 75207 (Mapsco #44D)

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

  1. Assist GTP Coordinator with setting up activities with young children.
  2. Assist Group Leader and/or "host" new families.
  3. Upon recommendation of GTP Coordinator and therapist, volunteers may have the opportunity to co-lead a group

Volunteer qualifications:

  1. At least 21 years of age
  2. Clear CANRIS/Criminal history check

Training required:

  1. Training will be individually tailored according to needs.
  2. Documents, support and mentoring is provided.
