Family Outreach Center volunteers partner with CPS to provide
in-home casework services and community based programs to strengthen
families and prevent the need for legal intervention.

Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Attend required training.
- Work with an "At risk" family, help identify family's
strengths and decrease family problems.
- Serve as support system for client family and assist in linking
family with available community resources.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Mature person who believes in prevention.
- Ability to listen to another's point of view.
- Optimistic about progress.
Training required:
- 20 hours of training, includes dynamics of physical and emotional
abuse, neglect, and child sexual abuse.
- Stress management, family structure, and communication skills.
