Volunteer Position: Early Childhood Psycho-Education Intervention Asst.

General summary of volunteer project:
The volunteer will assist the therapist in a program which works
with children ages 3 to 9 who are accompanying family members as they
attend various counseling programs at the Department.
Time commitment: Hours per week: Tues. Nights 7:00-9:00 Hours
per month: 1 night per wk.
for 6 weeks.
Length of commitment: 6 months to a year

Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Assist therapist with educating the children as to the importance
of basic laws, authority figures (i.e. such as police officers, fire
department, etc.) and general safety measures in a fun, exciting and
age-appropriate manner.
- Assist with games, artwork and other exercises.
- Assist with room clean-up after program.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Must be patient and reliable.
- Must enjoy small children.
- Must be 21 years of age or older, pass a criminal history and
reference check.
Training required:
- Seven hour training provided by the volunteer coordinator.
- One hour specific training by therapist leading program.
- Yearly in-service training.
