Volunteer Position: Discovery Case Assistant

Agency: Child Protective Services

Population Served: Abused/Neglect in Care

General summary of volunteer project:
Volunteers will assist the caseworker with responding to a court mandate to produce "discovery" to the defense attorney.  Volunteers may work on one case record per month.

Time commitment: Hours per week: 4-5 hrs. Hours per month: 20 hrs.

Length of commitment: 4-6 weeks

Location: 2355 Stemmons Fwy., Dallas, TX 75207 (Mapsco #44D)

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

1. De-identify case records.
2. Review case record and complete necessary documentation.
3. Copy case records for District Attorney's office.

Volunteer qualifications:

1. Age 21 or older.
2. Must possess good organizational, written, and interpersonal skills.

Training required:

1. How to complete required forms.
2. Discovery process training.
