Volunteer Position: Curfew Contact

Agency: Dallas County Juvenile Department

Population Served: Juvenile Delinquents

General summary of volunteer project:
Call youth in the evening at their homes to check on the probationer to make sure they are home within the curfew time.

Time commitment: Hours per week: 2-4 
Hours per month:
8-16

Length of commitment: 2-4 hours per week, weeknights and weekends (6 months)

Location: After training, from your home.

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

  1. Call Probationer 3-7 times a week at home to check if probationer is at home at the designated curfew time.
  2. Report back to probation officer next day or if needed, that evening.

Volunteer qualifications:

  1. Must pass criminal and reference checks.
  2. Must be flexible, patient and reliable. Strong telephone voice.
  3. At least 21 years of age.
  4. Must be willing to work closely Probation Officers and probationers.

Training required:

  1. 7-hour general training provided by Volunteer Coordinator.
  2. 1-hour specific training provided by institution program or activity coordinator.
  3. Yearly service training.
