Volunteer Position: Court/Family Liaison

General summary of volunteer project:
As a Court/Family Liaison, volunteers will verbally guide youth and
their families through the transition from the court to probation status
and/or residential placement.
Time commitment: Hours per week:
3
Hours per month: 12
Length of commitment:
1 year (Choice of shifts: 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm, any one day a week:
Monday - Friday)
Location: 2600 Lone Star Dr. (Mapsco #43V)
Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Attend court hearings of individual disposition cases.
- Assist Probation Officer with the completion of documents.
- Explain to Probationer and family the probation guidelines, Judge's
order and process to be followed.
- Inform youth of assignment, Probation Officer and reporting site.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Must pass criminal and reference background checks.
- Must be patient and reliable, an excellent listener.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Must have basic knowledge of court process and respect.
Training required:
- 7-hour general training provided by Volunteer Coordinator.
- 1-hour specific training provided by institution program or activity
coordinator.
- Yearly service training.
