Volunteer Position: Court/Family Liaison

General summary of volunteer project:
As a Court/Family Liaison, volunteers will verbally guide youth and their families through the transition from the court to probation status and/or residential placement.

1 year (Choice of shifts: 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm, any one day a week: Monday - Friday)

Location: 2600 Lone Star Dr. (Mapsco #43V)

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

  1. Attend court hearings of individual disposition cases.
  2. Assist Probation Officer with the completion of documents.
  3. Explain to Probationer and family the probation guidelines, Judge's order and process to be followed.
  4. Inform youth of assignment, Probation Officer and reporting site.

Volunteer qualifications:

  1. Must pass criminal and reference background checks.
  2. Must be patient and reliable, an excellent listener.
  3. At least 21 years of age.
  4. Must have basic knowledge of court process and respect.

Training required:

  1. 7-hour general training provided by Volunteer Coordinator.
  2. 1-hour specific training provided by institution program or activity coordinator.
  3. Yearly service training.
