Served: Juvenile Delinquents in TYC facilities.
General summary of volunteer project:
Assist the Parole Case
Aides who work with the youth by finding non-profit organizations for
the youth to complete community service hours, supervise youth during
their community service projects or work site, help transport youth or
individual youths to their work site, giving encouragement to complete
their community service hours.

Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Focus on student's strengths
and talents. Teaching proper working skills, interviewing skills,
work responsibility.
- Promote good work
ethics.
- Seek to improve the
youth's attitude about helping others in need.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Completion of Texas Youth Commission basic orientation and
certification.
- Willingness to work individually with an assigned student.
- Exhibit maturity and responsible behavior at all times. Observe and
encourage appropriate personal limitations.
Training required: (1 ½ - 2 hours)
- Basic orientation and certification process to Texas Youth
Commission.
- In-service training offered on a monthly basis. Classes should be
attended as needed.
- Volunteer may request additional training at any time in specific
areas.
