General summary of volunteer project:
To serve as a liaison in utilizing resources and developing a sharing,
informative relationship between the community, Texas Youth Commission
and the youth served.
Time commitment: Hours per week: Open
Hours per month: 2
hrs.
Length of commitment: Three years

Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Attend at least 50% of the regular meetings each year and bring a
guest to at least two.
- Acquire increasing knowledge of Texas Youth Commission facilities and
assist in developing fund-raising projects.
- Inform facilities of educational, cultural and entertainment
opportunities for students to participate in.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Completion of Texas Youth Commission basic orientation and
certification
- Be a member of the surrounding community and in some way reflect its
resources.
- Be able to provide input and support when called upon for specific
areas of assistance.
Training required: (1 ½ - 2 hours)
- Basic orientation and certification process to Texas Youth
Commission.
- In-service training offered on a monthly basis. Classes should be
attended as needed.
- Volunteer may request additional training at any time in specific
areas.
