Volunteer Position: Clerical Assistant

Agency: Dallas County Juvenile Department

Population Served:  Abused/Neglect in Care, Kids in Chaotic Homes, Truants & Runaways, Juvenile Delinquents

General summary of volunteer project:
Clerical support in all units and institutions to assist in filing, data entry, answering the telephone and other related clerical duties.

Time commitment: Hours per week: 2-8 
Hours per month:
8-16

Length of commitment: 2-8 hours per week, weekdays 8am-5pm (6 months - 1 year)

Location: One of our institutions, units or district offices located throughout Dallas County.

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

  1. Receptionist-answer phones and greets clients.
  2. Copying and filing.
  3. Basic data entry and light typing.

Volunteer qualifications:

  1. Must pass criminal and reference checks.
  2. Must be flexible and reliable.
  3. At least 21 years of age.
  4. Must have basic knowledge of filing, typing and computer skills.

Training required:

  1. 7-hour general training provided by Volunteer Coordinator.
  2. 1-hour specific training provided by institution program or activity coordinator.
  3. Yearly service training.
