Position: Assist as an
Interim Advocate/ Lawyer

in Chaotic Homes, Juvenile Delinquents
General summary of volunteer opportunity:
Assist a child with legal advice regarding an alleged juvenile
delinquency matter.
Time commitment: Hours per week: 1-3 Hours Hours per month:
4-12 Hours
Length of commitment: 3-6 Months
Location: Volunteer's Office
Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice for children ages 10-17, alleged to have
committed first property-related felony.
- Serve as a mentor to a child.
- Volunteer does not file pleadings or represent the child in
Court.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Must be a licensed Texas attorney in good standing.
- Must complete volunteer application and agree to criminal background
check, SBOT and employment check.
- Willing to be available to a child on a weekly basis.
Training provided:
- Optional 6 hours of volunteer training through the Juvenile
Department.
- Written training materials; mentors; support available from staff
attorney.
