Volunteer Position: Assist as a Friend of the Court or Guardian Ad Litem

Agency: Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program 

Population Served: Kids in Chaotic Homes

General summary of volunteer opportunity:
Assist a child by acting as a friend of the court in a divorce or custody case; or by acting as a Guardian ad Litem to a child in an adoption, divorce or custody non-CPS pro bono matter.

Time commitment: Hours per week: Open Hours per commitment: 10-30 Hours

Length of Commitment: One Case Minimum

Location: Dallas County Family Courts; Volunteer's Office

Specific volunteer responsibilities:

  1. As a Friend of the Court, speak with and befriend a child; make recommendations to the Court regarding the best interest of a child.
  2. As a Guardian ad Litem, assist the court in determining the best interest of the child.

Volunteer qualifications:

  1. Must be a licensed Texas attorney in good standing.

Training provided:

  1. Training offered.
  2. Documents, mentoring and support are available from staff attorneys.

Optional training provided at: 1515 Main Street, Dallas 75201(Mapsco #45P) or other site
