Children's Advocacy Centers

For children who have been abused, knowing there are sensitive and responsive adults who will help can make all the difference in the world. Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) in Texas communities—be they large or small, rural or urban—provide multidisciplinary teams of professionals to serve that very purpose. These are adults who recognize the hurt of abuse and have dedicated themselves to providing help and protection without causing further suffering.

Transition Resource Action Center (TRAC)

Who: Every year in North Texas over 100 youth “age out” of foster care and more than 3 times that many (in Dallas County alone) leave the juvenile detention system, transitioning from court jurisdiction to independence unprepared for independent living. Sadly, most of these young people leave the court systems with no place to live, no job, a small amount of money in their pocket and an inadequate support system for making the transition to an independent, productive life.   The Transition Resource Action Center coordinates resources and fill the gaps for these very deserving, yet underserved young adults.

Mission Statement: To connect young people who are transitioning from substitute care (foster care, juvenile services, or other out-of-home placement) toward self-sufficiency, with individualized support, planning and access to community services.

Client Population: Youth 16 and older who have been or still are in substitute care and are planning for living independently.
