General summary of volunteer project:
Provide educational groups on chemical dependency for youth who choose
to freely participate.
Time commitment:
Hours per week: 1-2 Hours
Hours per month: 4-8 Hours

Specific volunteer responsibilities:
- Consistently provide a forum for A.A. meetings on a weekly basis.
- Introduce group members to the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information concerning students at
Texas Youth Commission.
Volunteer qualifications:
- Completion of Texas Youth Commission basic orientation and
certification.
- Be able to conduct weekly meetings on a consistent basis.
- Work under the supervision of the Coordinator of Volunteer Services
and receive guidance, instruction and specific training from program
administrators, caseworkers and/or dormitory directors as needed.
Training required: (1 ½ - 2 hours)
- Basic orientation and certification process to Texas Youth Commission.
- In-service training offered on a monthly basis. Classes should be
attended as needed.
- Volunteer may request additional training at any time in specific
areas.
